Error code 3371
QuickBooks Product two types of error while opening related to error code 3371 with either status code -1 or status code 11118. We will go ahead and learn in this article how to take care of both the errors in QuickBooks. there are three types of error we get while opening QuickBooks.
- Could not initialize license properties. Error 3371: QuickBooks could not load the license data. This may be caused by missing or damaged files.

Why do we get error code 3371 status code -1 or -11118?
There are three common reasons behind the error code 3371 status code -1 or -11118
- Damaged ECML file or EntitlementClientDataStore.ecml file - Quickbooks itself generate this file when we register the QuickBooks. This is the most common reason behind this error code.
- Damaged Qbregisteration.dat file - QuickBooks generate this file when we install the program. This file contains QuickBooks license information. We would not be able to open QuickBooks if this file is damaged.
- Damaged MSXML file - This is a micorsoft product. We can consider it as third party component for QuickBooks. It helps the QuickBooks to function properly.
How to fix error code 3371 status code -1 or -11118
If the ECML file or entitlementClientDataStore.ecml is damaged we need to rename or delete this file. When we delete this file, QuickBooks itself re-create same file
To rename or delete the ECML file
- Close QuickBooks program
- Click on start menu and click on computer icon
- Unhide all the hidden files and folders from computer
- Visit on below mention location
QuickBooks 2017 and Enterprise 17.0: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
QuickBooks 2016 and Enterprise 16.0: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
QuickBooks 2015 and Enterprise 15.0: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
QuickBooks 2014 and Enterprise 14.0: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
- Delete ECML or EntitlementClientDataStore.ecml file
- Open QuickBooks and register it again

If this will also not manage to take care we need to perform clean install of QuickBooks
- Go to Start and choose Control Panel
- If your view is by: Category, open Uninstall a Program under Programs group.
- If your view is by: Small Icons, open Programs and Features option.
- Select the program or application you want to be removed and choose Uninstall.
Manually delete or rename QuickBooks folder
C:\Users\(current user)\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks(year)
64-bit version C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
Visit on above mentioned folder and delete or rename QuickBooks folder
Re-install the QuickBooks Program
